HELP ME COLLECT DATA ON HEMA INJURIES IN PHFL IN 2025!
Click here to fill out an injury report form!
This data is helping establish a baseline of the kind of injuries we see in HEMA practitioners throughout the league in both classroom and tournament settings. I appreciate everyone taking a moment to help contribute to evidence based practices in HEMA!
I'm Krys. I've been in the HEMA scene since 2016, and I have participated and volunteered at countless HEMA events in the Piedmont Historical Fencing League.
I've been an RN for a decade now, and one of my specialties is serving as the medic-on-standby at HEMA tournaments. Over the years, I get asked all the time what to put into a HEMA First Aid Kit for clubs, schools, and tournaments!
I developed this website so I can easily share that information with anyone who would like it. Use the links at the top of the webpage to navigate.
Keep in mind these are only suggestions for educational purposes and this is not medical advice. I cannot possibly know what qualifications someone has using this knowledge, nor account for that. This is unspecific to a particular school, club, or person, so use this educational content at your own risk and use common sense and good faith judgment. Please do not engage in medical treatment(s) that is/are: outside of the scope of Good Samaritan laws in your area, outside the scope of what you are comfortable with, trained on, or qualified for, not compatible with your club's insurance policies, or any other contraindicated situations, scenarios, individual perceptions, or abilities.
If you find this information useful and you're one of those wild people that want to tip me for free advice, you're welcome to venmo me @krys-earles (6648) and it's appreciated. Any money I receive will be put aside for site maintenance, materials for training, or helpful endeavors for the league as they arise. I do this for fun.
